'Pathways for Opportunities'

Our training programme provides a range of modular training courses based around the key elements of Commerce & Industry, Horticulture, Hospitality and Independent Living. At the core of these courses will be Functional Skills of Literacy, Maths and IT, with additional elements such as CV writing and Interviewing Skills.

Commerce and Industry modules include Warehousing, Reception Skills, Administration, Customer Care and Retail Selling Skills. These modules are delivered through our Materials Bank & Craft Centre in Fratton.

Horticulture modules include Commercial Horticulture Growing Skills and Gardening Skills with other modules being developed to enhance the programme. These modules are delivered at our new horticultural unit at our Materials Bank location.

Our new extension to the programme is called 'LET ME THINK' for our new Independent Living Course. Trainees will be able to learn new/enhance existing skills within areas of Budget, Cooking, Healthy Eating, Health and Hygiene, Growing Food to Eat, as well as build self-esteem and confidence, thereby enhancing their independence.

The Main Objective of Pathways for Opportunities is to provide our Trainees (who are disabled, disadvantaged or have learning difficulties) with the skills and confidence that they require to progress into meaningful activities, part or full-time paid employment, self employment or, with others, to develop social enterprises (businesses of their own). All of our Trainees will be encouraged to gain a nationally recognised qualification from Entry Level to Level 3 leading to an Award, Certificate or Diploma through the City & Guilds. We are now offering the Level 2 Award for Food Safety in Catering.
